My Bad Hair Day

It sums up how my hair looked and how I was feeling.

Well, on Sunday, my boy-friend and I were heading out to do some shopping. He needed car products, I wanted to buy a shelf to store my hair products!

I decided to wash my hair, since I have been doing co-washes without the deep-conditioning ( I know, but I was a tad lazy!). My hair was dry and uncombable ( it IS a word), and hopping in the shower causes all the pain and problems to disappear.

So, I hopped in, thoroughly drenched my hair, condition with Pantene Pro-V Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner (Twice, by applying a thick coating on my entire head.), and rinsed off.

Now after patting my hair dry and adding Neutrogena Triple Moisture® Silk Touch Leave-In Cream, I decided that I was going to gain control of my hair. BIG MISTAKE!

I was re-spraying my hair with water and instant conditioner and scrunching  like a mad woman. It was a HOT FREAKING MESS. Plus, I started to add gel, hoping to tame the frizzes (what the hell was I thinking... Ugh!)

My boy-friend, at this moment, announces that we are having brunch with his mother and grand-mother and I FLIPPED out.

Yes, at that very instant, I was a slave to my hair. It was not cooperating and I was not leaving the house!

Furious about my childish reaction, he left.

I was ashamed.

I re-hopped in the shower, re-applied conditioner and pat my hair dry. (Preventing it from poufing and frizzing uncontrollably.)

It looked better, but I was determined to not let it prevent me from leaving the damn house. I do not want to be one of those black women who lives through her hair ( even though I kind of do!). I guess I do not want to be that extreme lady who lives through her hair.

So, yes.

I went out. Had brunch and got a compliment from my mother in law, who loves me so much I think I can turn up bald and she'll still find me pretty :)

I really hope to NEVER show that side of me to my boy-friend again. I mean, yes I am vain, and he loves me because I am, cause I can let myself go and not care anymore, but it's just not me.

However, throwing a tantrum is quite extreme (and ridiculous) and at my age (23), it should not even be tolerated!

But, what about you ladies? Any tantrums or bad hair day experiences to share?

Long Overdue Hair Update!

I was looking at past posts, and I realize that it has been awhile since I gave a hair update. As some of you have read, I was contemplating going "au naturel".

Well... I changed my mind! It has been ONLY 10 weeks since I did my last relaxer, and my growth is getting out of control!

I tried though! I was doing Wash-n-Go's, Twist and Curls, Braids-in and outs, and wearing buns ALL THE TIME! (Which really helped my hair!)

Unfortunately, last night I decided to do a Roller Set (The whole story will be posted soon!). After, doing the whole hoopla, I moisturized, wrapped my hair and called it a night.

This morning, my hair was looking so pretty! It is almost BSL (2-3 inched to go) and it was straight and shiny and Oh! So wonderful.

I guess when I saw myself, I knew the "au naturel" phase was over! *Sigh*

I still love Curly Nikki's hair but it's not for me... I like relaxing and having the choice to be straight and curly, whenever I feel like it.

On a sad note, I think I have split-ends or hair damage due to the time my ex-stylist chopped off a huge chunk of my hair (without my consent) and proceeded to relax it (ARGH!). It is quite short and I have been trimming it non-stop, but it is still frizzy!

I think I will ask around on what I should do, because I cannot cut it more than it is now! It is really short and obvious! Ugh!

Though it has been 10 weeks since I relaxed, I am undecided if I should relax it this weekend. I want to wait an extra month, but I believe having the two textures will cause much un-needed stress to my hair.

Wigging out

As much as I am loving taking care of my hair and watching the length of it, I miss the low-key factor of having weaves.

I miss the Bra-Strap Level, without the combing and maintenance.

Am I wrong? I mean we all get sick of maintaining one self, and would just like to relax and do nothing!

This is where my fabulous friend comes in!

Kim, aka Sexy Diva, was sporting this nice looking wig. In fact I thought it was extensions. She told me it was an old (3 months) and that it was synthetic.

Really, I thought it didn't look too bad. It cost her 70$ and I am tempted to purchase myself one.

I think it's a good way to have instant nice hair without the constant combing, brushing, tugging and tying up. I notice after my vacation that my hair thinned out and each long strand I pulled out caused me so much dismay! I am being ultra paranoid now. ( I will make a hair update section ASAP.)

I think having a nice synthetic wig will relax me somewhat and it could be an alternative protective hairstyle! You know how much I hate those damn buns!http://tainnainottawa.typepad.com/tio/2009/02/protective-styles.html

I have fallen off the hair wagon!

Well, first of all, I am not bald! So, I have not technically fallen off the wagon, but I have notice that I have not been taking as much care as I used to...

I noticed that I am kind of losing hair in the front. Yes, I can admit this! And I think it's either because I am always tying my hair back or because of the scarf I sleep in.

I am now taking extreme care of that spot and using a lot of MEGATEK.

I am also not washing my hair as often as I should. I am currently washing it once a week, when I should up it to maybe twice or every 4 days! I workout a lot nowadays, and my hair is frizzing like their is no tomorrow.

Plus, I am not using enough moisturizer.

Tonight, I am going to sit down and do a full analysis about my mane and where it is heading!
